Catalytic Potentiometric Determination of Trace Copper in Some Viscera of Pigswith Periodate Ion-selective ELectrode
This method is based on the reaction that copper (Ⅱ) catalyzes the oxidation of thiosulfate by periodate. With periodate ion-selective electrode as an indicator electrode, the trace copper is easily detected by this reaction. Uuder the selected conditions, the reaction-rate is directly proportional to the copper concentration in the range from 10 to 150 ppb. This method is simple, rapid and highly sensitive. It has been applied to the determination of trace copper in some viscera of pigs. The results of analysis were compared favourably with those obtained by atomic absorption spectrophotometry.
